Aluminium Window installs

Finished Product, Work in progress

Here are 2 recent jobs where we replaced steelframe windows with aluminium framing… one job is PART REMOVAL of the steel frame – we cut all the bars, sashes, glass out – but keep the perimeter steel frame in the wall. New windows slide into the opening and are clad both sides with trim. The other job is a complete removal of the steel frame window.

Steel frame window – sashes already removed. this will be a PART REMOVAL job.
New aluminium fixed frame with toughened glass. Wide trims to suit and cover the steel frame

Yesterday we installed 2x boxframed windows into prepared openings for us. New linings, bullnose sills and arcatraves (to match existing) on the inside, and quad on the outside with foam seal against the brickwork.

16mm double glazed, and with weights ropes and pulleys.

And the day prior we fitted these 2 cedar windows (total removal of existing).

Meranti bifold with centor hardware

Work in progress

Just preparing this bifold. Once we have it working, we will dismantle it all and the main perimeter frame will be packed up for transport. the builder will re-assemble on site like an IKEA pack

inside view, again final adjustments need to be made once installed and made square and not bowed in the head anywhere. doorstops are OFF on this photo.

Right Angle Sliding door in cedar – INSTALLED

Finished Product, Uncategorized, Work in progress

Can you see the steel posts just inside the frame – on both sides? this meant on-site notching of the sliding sill and head to suit, and then cladding the entire beam in cedar to blend/match.

That post next to the sliding door panel is the steel beam. it has been clad in cedar, and you can see the Kapur sill has also been patched/reblocked to look seemless. (the post is slightly wet from wiping the woodglue down).

The double-glazed panels ranged from 70-115kilograms.

Right angle Sliding Door in Cedar

Uncategorized, Work in progress

This is going to be a very technically challenging job. This is a right angle sliding door – the opening panels meet at the corner. Once fully working, this frame is going to be disassembled, and ikea-like we will “flat pack” it to the install site. We then need to bring it all inside and rebuild the frame in the room. To make it harder we will need to notch the sill and head for steel posts that will meet. To re-build the frame the fixed panels need to be screwed from underneath – so once we assemble the main frame we need to raise it high enough to get underneath the frame and fit the panels in… then fit the frame…

it will all be double glazed after we fit it all (by us too).

Another day another bay window

Finished Product, Uncategorized, Work in progress

This is the 2nd bay window we have installed in the same complex in the last month.

the original frame had extensive wood rot and car bog. a whole strip was just a wad of old silicon to try stop the leaks.

original bull-nose sill was left in place as per strata’s request.
