We are often asked to reproduce / match existing windows and doors and sashes that have seen better days. Here are a pair of rebated meranti doors we have just finished today.
After a few days out on work sites installing some doorframes, and a bay window repair, I’ve come to the factory and seen the lads assembling this exceptional custom door. Just looking at it midway through assembly gives a sense of how much time and work is involved in this sort of project.
We just finished this dogleg door-frame and door. The windows either side of the doorframe are single hung windows with grey glass. Grey glass in the door. All cedar.
Just got to deliver these in the next day or so now.
Well, earlier i posted some arched doors and doorframes which i loaded up on saturday. Monday Tom and I installed them. here are some photos.
The handcast iron gate hardware really made the frames stand out.
A new gate has been finished this afternoon. here you can see old and new side by side. Cedar timber.
It has been a while since my last post. Not because we aren’t busy at TWM – we almost always are – but because I’ve had walls to paint, and all the plumbing redone at home.
Recently we have had 2 separate jobs come in at the same time for arched doors and door frames.
Have some photos.
Arched solid cedar door to suit doorframe. this job also includes a frame with double doors as well.
cedar arched doorframe with no sill. 2 doors are being made to suit.
cedar doorframes with arched hi lites. the doors will be standard recetangular double doors. but the arches will include leadlight.
how an arch is made. naturally you cant get a single piece of timber 2m wide by 1m high in a single piece. to make an arch lots of cedar blocks are cut to the curve required, then assembled together. its a time consuming job, but the results are excellent.
The wall I mentioned, well have a photo or two…

Making arched frames. Considerable time and effort is made on each arch, here we have some being glued up.
My entire last week was spent on a first floor of a hall installing 16 bronze anodise sliding windows. It was a challenge (4 of us there all week) but in terms of photos, pretty boring. But this was being made at the factory by my timber lads and when i returned to work I had to photo this and share it.
Solid Oak. roughly 2900 high x 3000 wide. We are making a pair of doors (again solid oak) which when we install the frame will be hung on pivots.
The fixed panels on the sides will be adorned with crosses and other ikons for the church.
